A child version of The Weeknd travels through the darkness in the claymation animated music video for his new single, "Red Terror."
The track marks the singer's fourth single from his sixth album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, which was released on Friday (Jan. 31). In the Eddie Alcazar-directed visual, the mouthless child is chased by monsters through a forest before approaching an alien-like growth. By the end, the entity causes the child to graphically shed his original form.
Renewal has been the ongoing motif of Hurry Up Tomorrow, as The Weeknd plans for the album to be his final under his current stage name.
"Part of me actually was thinking, ‘You lost your voice because it’s done; you said what you had to say," The Weeknd told Variety in a recent profile. "'Don’t overstay at the party — you can end it now and live a happy life.' You know? Put the bow on it: Hurry Up Tomorrow? Now we’re here. When is the right time to leave, if not at your peak? Once you understand who I am too much, then it’s time to pivot."
Previous singles from Hurry Up Tomorrow include "Timeless" featuring Playboi Carti and the Anitta-assisted "São Paulo." The four-time Grammy winner will soon embark on the After Hours Til Dawn 2025 Tour with support from Carti and Mike Dean as a special guest. Ahead of the tour, which starts in May, general on sale tickets will go on sale Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. local time, following artist presales Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. local time through Thursday, Feb. 6 at 9 a.m. local time.
