We're In A Celeb Lookalike Competition Renaissance, So Here's Every Recent And Upcoming One I Could Find

5 hours ago 1

If you're even a fraction as online as I am, you've certainly seen what can only be described as a modern-day renaissance of the celebrity lookalike competition.

Fueled by Instagram story reshares and legions of ogling twentysomethings obsessed with whomever the current White Boy of the Month may be (I'm looking at you, Paul Mescal), celebrity lookalike contests have been popping up all over the world since late last month.

That's when YouTuber Anthony Po hosted the now-famous Timothée Chalamet lookalike competition in New York City. He incurred a $500 fine for hosting the event at the arch in Washington Square Park with "over 300 patrons," and a contestant even got arrested — but the REAL Timmy T actually showed up, so a win is a win.

You can read our full write-up here.

Thus began a frenzy of copycats in the weeks that followed. They're often hosted in locations having something to do with the celebrity they're featuring, like Englishman Harry Styles's lookalike showdown in London and The Bear star Jeremy Allen White's competition in Chicago, where the show is set. Without further ado, here's a comprehensive list of recent and upcoming lookalike contests, although we're sure there are even more to come:

1. Oct. 27: Timothée Chalamet

Winner:

25-year-old Jaipreet Hundal. When spectators asked if he was single after his big win, he held up a picture of his girlfriend, who he told the San Francisco Chronicle "hypes me up all the time … she always says I look like Dev Patel or Ranveer Singh."

5. Nov. 16: Jeremy Allen White

Note that there was also a lesser-attended NYC contest for JAW lookalikes the following day, back where it all started at Washington Square Arch.

Winner:

37-year-old therapist Ben Shabad. "This is the coolest thing I've done all week," he told the Chicago Sun-Times. Yes chef!

7. Nov. 17: Jack Schlossberg

Jack even posted about it.

Winner:

An unnamed, sunglassed mystery man. I hope he enjoys his ~five burrito bowls.

There's another Jack Schlossberg contest coming to Washington, DC with nearly 500 RSVPs and counting — already more promising and a more fitting location for finding a Kennedy doppelgänger if you ask me. The winner will receive a $50 cash prize and a $50 Zipcar credit.

Winner:

Someone named Celia (at least that's what I think they said in this video). She's on the right in the second photo, wearing jeans and a Rooney tee.

Winner:

Zainab Bansfield took home the prize and participated in a dance competition at the event. "I’m not as good of a dancer as her, but I definitely got some moves," she told NBC Bay Area.

Upcoming

We'll see these three in the coming weeks.

10. Nov. 24: Art and Patrick from Challengers

12. Dec. 8: John F. Kennedy
