Have you fallen in love with Kingfisher from Callie Hart‘s book Quicksilver yet? The first book of the Fae & Alchemy Series was released in June 2024, and has already made waves in the romantasy BookTok community (yes, we’re a community). So, when the heck is the next book coming out?
Here’s everything we know about the second book:
When Does ‘Quicksilver’ 2 Come Out?
Sorry, Quicksilver fans, but we have some waiting to do — as the second book won’t be released until the fall of 2025, with no clear date announced as of yet.
Originally, the second book was set for an October 2024 release date, as it was teased at the end of the book. However, fans think the year-long delay may be attributed to the fact that Callie, who self-published the first book, was acquired by publishing company Hodderscape in September 2024.
The acquisition was “hotly contested” by a ten-way auction, with Hodderscape eventually winning UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada.
Hodderscape CFO Molly Powell said in a statement: “Quicksilver has everything I love in a book—and more! I was swept away by Saeris and Kingfisher’s sizzling story, and from page one I knew exactly why readers were calling it the hottest fantasy sensation of the year. Quicksilver is a major acquisition for Hodderscape, an indication of our success so far and major ambition for the future… Quicksilver will be a hugely important part of our brand publishing for 2024 and into 2025, backed by a major global marketing and publicity campaign.”
What to Expect from ‘Quicksilver’ Book 2?
ICYMI, Quicksilver follows our protagonist Saeris Fane, who has hidden away her strange power over metals from the world. After accidentally opening a portal to another realm, she meets Death himself, who is also the only one who can send her back home.
While appearing on “A Pod of Smut and Wingspan” in August 2024, the author was asked what three words would describe the second book, in which she replied: “total f—king mayhem.”
“There are so many moving parts in this book, like, there is a lot going on,” she added. “The dynamics between the characters are, just, like, amplified tenfold. It is all gas, no brakes, roller coaster, total f—king mayhem.”
