The Dune prequel series explores the origins of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood

A new chapter in the Dune franchise is just days away, as Dune: Prophecy heads to the UK. Airing later this month, the prequel series takes place 10,000 years before the ascension of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides.

It follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. The six-part drama takes inspiration from Sisterhood of Dune, the novel penned by Kevin J. Anderson and Frank Herbert’s son Brian Herbert.

The series boasts a stacked ensemble cast led by Oscar-nominee Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen, the leader of the Sisterhood. She stars alongside The Crown’s Olivia Williams, The Witcher’s Jodhi May and Kingsman’s Mark Strong.

Dune: Prophecy was first announced in 2019, with Dune director Denis Villeneuve attached to direct the pilot. It follows the filmmaker’s two-part feature epic, which has raked in more than $1billion at the global box office.

The series has since gone through several changes behind the scenes, with Lost and Westworld producer Alison Schapker eventually taking the reins as showrunner and executive producer. So if you’re eager to go back to Arrakis, here’s when Dune: Prophecy is released and how to watch for less with Black Friday TV deals.

When Dune: Prophecy is released

Dune: Prophecy will premiere Monday, November 18 in the UK, and will be available on-demand in the early hours of the morning – the same time it premieres in the US. New episodes will be released weekly through to the finale on December 23.

How to watch Dune: Prophecy

Dune: Prophecy will air exclusively on Sky Atlantic, which is currently included with Sky’s Black Friday deals. Until December 3, Dune fans can get the Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix bundle for its lowest ever price of £19 a month, down from the usual £26.

This saves £168 over the 24-month term and comes with a new Sky Stream box, the plug-in-and-play device that streams live and on-demand content over WiFi without the need for a satellite dish. It provides access to more than 100 channels like Sky Atlantic – the home of The Penguin and The Day of the Jackal – plus a Netflix subscription at no extra cost.

Shoppers can also save £165 on a Sky Glass package with TV and Netflix built, which has been slashed to £33 when spreading the cost. There’s also the Sky Stream, Sky TV, Netflix and Full Fibre 150 broadband for £38 a month for those looking to upgrade their current TV and internet plan.

Sky isn’t the only brand kicking off its Black Friday sale early, as Virgin Media has also slashed the prices of its TV and broadband plans. Virgin is offering up to £255 off a range of bundles that include more than 200 TV channels – including Sky Cinema and Sky Sports – and fibre broadband with speeds up to 1,130Mbps, as well as three months of free Disney+ at no extra cost.
