With the premiere of Southern Charm Season 10 this week, it’s worth reflecting on the drama of the previous season. After all, little was resolved between Taylor Ann Green and Olivia Flowers. And there was continued speculation as to what actually happened between the Southern Charm leading lady and Austen Kroll.
Then there’s the news that Olivia would not be returning to the series. As a result, any resolution would be missing a key player in the love triangle that occurred between the alum star, Austen, and Taylor.
However, Taylor is willing to speak about her current status with the newly-engaged Olivia. Thus, Southern Charm viewers will get an update on how the former friends stand today.
Taylor Ann Green wants “some redemption” in Season 10
Taylor told Us Weekly that she felt like a “dog with a tail between my legs” after filming Season 9. However, returning for another season wasn’t a question.
“I was definitely worried about coming back, but I also was hoping for some redemption and for people to see a different side instead of leaving on a bad note,” Taylor shared.
She was “very hopeful” that had Olivia returned, fans could see the resolution “play out.” Taylor called her decision not to film again “unfortunate.”
At the time of BravoCon in November 2023, Olivia said that she was “not talking to Taylor.” It’s understandable considering how fresh the betrayal was.
Taylor gave Olivia “space and time” to make the first move
But the situation is different now that the duo have distanced themselves. They are on better terms. Taylor shared that Olivia had reached out to her prior to filming for Season 10 began.
“I think we’re on a good turn and she reached out,” she said. “I allowed that space and time for her to reach out to me if she was ready or wanting or willing, and so she did, and I think we’re good.”
“We had just started filming and she just said, ‘Hey, I’ve heard some things. I’m just checking in on you, making sure you’re doing OK,’” Taylor added. “Of course [I said], ‘It’s so great to hear from you. I obviously think about you a lot. I wish you were back this season.’”
Taylor felt that it “was really good to hear from her.” Understandably, Olivia’s priorities have shifted to her engagement with Alex Williams and other career projects.
“She’s doing really well,” Taylor revealed. “She is engaged and she’s got some other things going on. So I think [in] hindsight, it worked out for the best and everything happens for a reason,” Taylor shared. “It’ll be nice for her to always have that [and just say], ‘I had that experience and maybe didn’t end on the best note.’ But she’s well loved.”
As for Austen, the Southern Charm star said they are “still friends.” Taylor added, “we don’t really owe each other anything. I don’t owe him anything. He doesn’t owe me anything. We definitely have a mutual respect for one another.”
Both Austen and Taylor have moved on with different significant others. She is dating Gaston Rojas.
“He is dating someone and I’m dating someone,” Taylor said of her friendship with Austen. “We’re not best friends, but I respect him and he respects me.”
