Buying whisky for a loved one at Christmas can be a bit of a gamble, which is why it's always a good idea to opt for a well-respected name. And few whisky brands are more highly praised than Laphroaig - and now, you can nab a bottle of its Quarter Cask Single Malt Scotch for £32.30 on Amazon.
That's a welcome reduction on its full price of £38, thanks to a Black Friday deal. This is a peaty whisky, one that's double matured in two barrels of American oak to really add body and depth to its flavour profile.
The peaty notes are definitely there, but they're complemented by elements of coconut, banana and vanilla, providing a fruity aroma and a smooth finish. This is also a versatile dram, one you can enjoy neat, over ice, or in a cocktail.
And with a 4.8 star rating from just over 7,700 Amazon reviews, it would seem like customers have really fallen in love with this whisky. "Just what the doctor ordered, really nice whisky this," said one shopper simply.
Another expanded on their praise, writing: "This whisky gives you this warm, comforting feeling something akin sitting next to a fireplace in the winter. To me, the flavour is very tasty and interesting, it is full-bodied, and the bite comes at the end of a sip. The taste lingers for a while, which is pretty great. I find that adding water really helps to open up the whisky and releases the flavours hidden by strong bite."
A third said: "Stunning flavour and totally unexpected smoothness which I did not expect at all from whisky. [I] read about the peaty flavour and they were correct, very peaty and I just loved it."

However, everyone's palates are different, and one shopper warned: "If you don't like smoky whisky stay away!" Another said: "At face value, quite a nice whisky but I found there was a strong taste of burnt wood rather than smokiness."
If you wanted to try another award-winning whisky, you could look to The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which is £35 from Sainsbury's. To sample a variety of drops, Selfridges has the Whisky And Bourboun Japanese Whiskey Tasting Set for £41.99.
