Jane revealed on an episode of Loose Women that Gary had actually been arrested in 2002 on the night before their wedding. The following morning, the groom-to-be was still behind bars. Jane said, ‘Between getting married and heading to the reception, Gary informed me that the night before, he'd been arrested and thrown in a police cell… Basically there was a fire alarm and he wouldn’t leave the hotel until he knew that the kids were alright and they wouldn’t let him know where the kids were and anyway, he got lairy.’

Jane announced that she and her husband Gary were splitting up on an episode of Loose Women on 7 December 2022.

She said, ‘Gary and I are separating. But it’s weird that it’s out there because we have been processing it for about a year.' She went on to add that they're both extremely private people, but they had actually discussed the split a year earlier and had to put it on pause due to Gary's health.

She explained, 'He fell and broke his leg— and I didn’t push him! And obviously then all bets are off. So, we’re still in the same house together, we’re still going to do Christmas together.'

Jane went on to say that the pair maintain a strong friendship despite the split. ‘It’s weird because I have been sort of caring for him in that sense of the word, and it’s enables us to process it first of all and to sort of segue nicely into a really good friendship. I would always say he is my best friend, I hope if he was sitting here he’d say I was his best friend, and I’m just very keen that we don’t lose that element of it.’
