Billionaire Kim Kardashian and her family have come under fire for using their celebrity status to secure a private screening of Wicked - a month before its release.
And fans have blasted the family for using their "obscene privilege" as they posed for pictures at Kim's LA mansion along with their celebrity pals Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Ahead of the luxury private screening, Kim, 44, was joined by her sisters including Khloe, Kourtney and Kylie as well as the matriarch of the family, Kris Jenner.
The family, joined by all of their children in tow, were treated to merchandise including t-shirts, pyjamas, dolls and a prink and green buffet. Thanking Universal, Kris wrote: "Best night ever!!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the most magical night! We love you @arianagrande @cynthiaerivo @universalpictures for throwing the most amazing screening of the most incredible and EPIC movie, Wicked, and thank you @KimKardashian for hosting us at your house for this fabulous green carpet."
She added: "Universal, you set up a truly spectacular experience for our whole family. Everyone buckle your seatbelts you’re in for a special treat when you see this movie!" However, fans were left fuming at their special treatment as they felt the screening should have been shown to children studying film and theatre instead.

Another person wrote: "It grosses me out how this family continuously gets things they shouldn’t be able to have but just because they’re rich the get a pass. You want Marilyn Monroe’s dress? Sure. You want the Wicked Movie an entire month before it’s officially out? Why not." They added: "There is no marketing angle to wicked hosting a private movie night for the kard*shians other than showing the extreme wealth."
Another person added: "THIS. the kardashians aren't even remotely connected to theater and if they rlly wanted the kardashians to watch it, then they should've invited them to one of their influencer screening like they did with trisha. theater kids deserve the princess treatment, not icky billionaires."
Meanwhile a fourth social media user said: "why didn’t they set up a private screening of wicked in a musical theatre school for kids in a low income neighbourhood or something. like why the kardashians? that cannot have been the best PR move like truly i don’t get it." And a fifth added: "Not one person in your family deserved this."
Taking to her social media account, Kim posted: "Alright guys, we have a special screening tonight of Wicked. We laughed, we cried (a few times) and we loved it so much! Thank you @arianagrande and @cynthiaerivo for watching @wickedmovie with us tonight. The most magical pajama party."
The film is due to be released on November 22 and the plot synopsis reads: "Misunderstood because of her green skin, a young woman named Elphaba forges an unlikely but profound friendship with Glinda, a student with an unflinching desire for popularity." It added: "Following an encounter with the Wizard of Oz, their relationship soon reaches a crossroad as their lives begin to take very different paths."
