A video capturing a comical moment during woman's night out in Berlin has gone viral on TikTok.
The clip was posted by @venturababy2 and has amassed more than 3.4 million views since it was shared on November 7. The footage was captured at the 808 Berlin club in the German capital, the poster noted in a later comment.
A note overlaid on the video simply reads "5'7 girl in the club in Berlin." The footage shows a woman laughing hysterically while standing in a crowded club surrounded by several men who tower over her. The post, shared with the hashtag #heightdifference, was captioned: "Stop I was going through my old video ahahah."
A November 2020 study in The Lancet, which measured the height and weight of 65 million people in 200 countries and territories, found an estimated difference of 20 centimeters (around 7.8 inches) or higher in the average height of 19-year-old adolescents between countries with the tallest populations and those with the shortest in 2019.
The study found that those who were on average the tallest in the world lived in northwestern and central European countries. These include the Netherlands, Montenegro, and Estonia as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina for boys, and the Netherlands, Montenegro, Denmark and Iceland for girls.
The study noted that, "although northwestern European children and adolescents were on average the tallest in the world in 2019, much of this advantage was achieved before the late 20th century, and many of these countries had below median height change from 1985 to 2019."
By contrast, "central European countries such as Montenegro and Poland achieved a substantial part of their height advantage since 1985, especially in boys," the study said.
However, the largest gains in height over the past three to five decades were among those in China and South Korea, as well as parts of Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, according to the study.
