A pawrent shared footage caught on a pet camera of her mischievous pup's antics while she was out of the house, leaving social media viewers laughing.
The golden retriever's owner, who uses the social media tag @golden_nala_bear, decided to spy on her pup with a camera, and the results have gone viral, garnering 52,600 likes and 636,000 views.
"Me worried she was going to chew everything when we weren't home. This is her when I check the cameras," the owner wrote in the text overlaying the video.
"You thought she was going to be a good girl didn't you," she added, before the chaos commenced.
"The puppy stage was a love / hate relationship and YES she had a MILLION stimulating toys but the blinds and furniture were better," the owner captioned the post.
The video shows a compilation of chaotic scenes as the pup is left to her own devices—pawing at her water bowl, pulling on the blinds and destroying cushions by pulling out all the stuffing.
Newsweek reached out for comment to u/@golden_nala_bear for comment via TikTok and could not verify the details of the case.
How to Stop Dogs From Destroying Things While You're Out
Curbing destructive behavior in dogs requires addressing their energy levels and providing mental stimulation, according to the website Pupford.
Before leaving, ensure your pup is well exercised with a walk or play session to burn off excess energy. Gradually increase the time your dog spends alone to help it adjust, and consider crate training as a safe, secure option for when you're away.
Additionally, keeping tempting items like shoes and remote controls out of reach can prevent trouble.
The Benefits of Enrichment Toys
PetMD says enrichment toys are a great way to keep dogs entertained and mentally engaged when they're left alone. Puzzle toys, treat-dispensing balls and chew toys can help redirect their focus from destructive behavior to productive play.
These toys not only provide entertainment but also mimic natural foraging behaviors, which help reduce stress and anxiety in dogs.
Social media users were quick to relate and responded to the puppy's trail of destruction.
"My dog just sent me this and said she did everything she was supposed to. Consider yourself lucky," quipped one viewer.
"And the best part of my plan is, no one can stop me," joked Mallory.
"My lab has separation anxiety. I didn't know this when I adopted her. She ate my couch," shared another commenter.
"MY DOG IS STILL IN HER PUPPY PHASE ITS A LIVING HELL," wrote Daniela.
