Most pet owners love sending pictures of their four-legged friends to family members, but one woman was left in hysterics by her grandma's unexpected response to a photo of her cat.
As the owner of a 4-year-old cat, named Cleo, and a 1-year-old golden retriever, named Otis, Cammy Comiskey's camera roll is full of adorable photos. Indeed, whenever her grandma, Anita, 84, asks to see pictures of the duo, Comiskey will gladly send over some of the latest snaps she's captured.
However, when Comiskey, 27, sent a photo of Cleo curled up in her cat hammock, the reply she got was certainly not what she was expecting. In response to the picture, Anita simply wrote back: "gross lol," followed by: "what is it?"
Comiskey, of Delray Beach, Florida, found her grandma's blunt reply utterly hilarious, telling Newsweek that it was "the funniest thing" she's ever read. As hard as she tried to explain that it was just a picture of Cleo, Anita didn't seem convinced, adding that it "looks like mussels" instead.
"My grandma often asks about my pets and wants to see pictures of them. So, I sent her a photo of my cat in her hammock, as she spends a lot of time there," Comiskey said.
"I was so confused, and I assumed she couldn't tell that it was a picture of my cat. But then the mussel comment literally made me cry laughing. Then, her asking what it is multiple times was just the cherry on top."
After seeing her grandma's response, Comiskey shared a screen grab of the text exchange on TikTok (@camdawwg). Layered over the post, the caption explains: "When [your] grandma requests photos of [your] cat but she literally cannot see and refuses to wear her glasses."
The post instantly went viral and has gained over 965,100 views and more than 155,600 likes on TikTok in just a matter of days.
"I could have never imagined all the love my video has received. The comments are so funny, and I am so happy that I was able to share my grandma with this many people," Comiskey continued.
"My grandma is truly the matriarch of the family. She is hilarious, so much fun to be around, and some of my earliest childhood memories are with her."
Despite the unexpected response she received before, Comiskey hasn't let that stop her from sending other photos of her beloved pets to Anita. In fact, most recently she shared a picture of Otis wearing a pink wig, which her grandma couldn't get enough of.
Although, Comiskey joked that she took a different approach this time by sending the image with a caption to explain exactly what the photo showed. "That way, there was no room for confusion," she said.
Plenty of social media users have lauded Anita's hilarious text messages, leading to more than 800 comments on the viral TikTok post so far.
One comment reads: "I like how she asked what it is and you told her and then she asked again."
Another TikToker wrote: "Wait I took my glasses off and held my phone away and I do see what she sees."
While one person joked: "I had to set my phone down while I laughed at this."
