A woman became emotional after watching her dog on her pet cam while she was out of her apartment.
TikTok user Lea Andriola shared the sweet video of her dog longing for her to come back while she was out, and she joked that she will never leave the dog alone again.
In the clip, which has amassed 13.1 million views since it was shared on January 9, Andriola's dog is first seen in a playful mood on her couch as she records her.
However, the clip then cuts to the dog as seen on the pet cam, looking lonely while Andriola was away from home. She explained in the text overlay of the clip that she had expected her dog to "destroy the apartment."
"But then I checked the camera," she wrote before showing footage of her dog staring at the door waiting for her to return.
The caption says: "Safe to say I am never ever leaving her alone again..."
Newsweek has contacted Andriola for comment via TikTok.
Between 2023 and 2024, over 65 million households in the United States had at least one dog, Statista reports, a significantly larger number than the more than 46 million households that had cats.
Dogs can experience loneliness when their owners leave the house, according to PetHub. The website lists a number of ways to combat this, including providing food toys and puzzle toys or tiring the dog out when you are with it.
Andriola's video attracted thousands of comments from people sharing their reactions to her dog's touching behavior.
User Tina shared: "Not trying to make people cry but that's what most dogs do when alone if they don't have behavior issues. It is so true that we're their everything so please give them as much time as you can."
Matias Mora commented: "I always liked the idea that god created dogs to show us that true love exists."
Zulil_bae wrote: "My dog would do this and I got her a friend and now they both do this, and then I got a boyfriend now they do this when I'm home and he's not smh [shaking my head] it never ends."
When someone else suggested she consider a doggy day care for her pet, Andriola said that she was gone for just two hours on this occasion and that she works from home, so normally she's there with her dog.
Emma wrote: "Meanwhile, my golden retriever when I leave: it's time to shred the baseboards."
