A former mentor from “The Voice” shared a powerful message on social media amid the latest round of California wildfires. Miley Cyrus experienced the loss of her home in a 2018 wildfire, and she noted her “soul aches” for those currently experiencing the same type of heartbreak.

Miley Cyrus Admitted the Current Situation ‘Hits Me Hard’

On January 11, Cyrus shared a photo from her burned home on her Instagram page. “This image hits me hard in the heart today. This is a photo taken of my front porch in 2018 after losing our house in the Woolsey fires. It’s a feeling you don’t ever forget,” she wrote.

In the photo, four cushions that spelled “L-O-V-E” could be seen. The cushions were charred but still intact. Nearly everything surrounding the letters was burnt beyond recognition.

Cyrus recalled the difficult emotions she experienced after the loss of her house. She wrote, “Walking up to the door you would pass through daily, looking forward to being greeted by the ones you love like you always do but instead being met by a pile of ash and rubble.”

She continued, “My soul aches for those who are experiencing this devastation firsthand and I cry for my city. It’s beyond heartbreaking.”

“Los Angeles represents ‘living the dream’ but the reality today is wreckage and destruction,” she added.

Cyrus then noted she was sharing links to organizations she chose to personally support during this difficult time.

She shared, “Time, resources and dedication from inside and outside of our community will heal us, but it hurts deeply for now.”

‘The Voice’ Alum’s Home Was Lost in the 2018 Woolsey Wildfire

As People noted, Cyrus was away from home in 2018 when it burned down. She was still with Liam Hemsworth at the time, it happened just before the two wed. He rescued their pets from the home as it burned. She was filming the movie “Black Mirror” in South Africa at the time.

Cyrus spoke to Vanity Fair in February 2019 about the loss. The media outlet noted that the couple shared four cats, seven dogs, two horses, and two pigs in their Malibu home.

In a TikTok video Cyrus shared in August 2019, she noted that the house had “so much magic in it.” Not only did she live there with Hemsworth, but she also wrote her first solo album in the home years before.

The new Instagram post shared by Cyrus on the Miley Cyrus Foundation page linked to the Malibu Foundation. The organization works to provide financial relief and help rebuild families impacted in the Malibu area by natural disasters.

The organization left a comment, sharing, “Thank you @themileycyrusfoundation You all were so KEY in Woolsey, donating and helping SO much even [though] you, yourself were affected. BECAUSE of you, we exist. Thank you.”

One fan noted, “We are so proud of you and I hope you know that we all are sending our thoughts and prayers for everyone affected this week such as back then when this unfortunately happened to you. You’re an angel.”
