The ladies who were with Liam Payne before his tragic end are said to be utterly heartbroken.

Liam sadly passed away at the young age of 31 on Wednesday, October 16, following a fall from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Before the gut-wrenching incident, he was in the company of Aldana Serrano, 31, and Lucila Goitea, 27, at the posh Casa Sur Hotel.

The trio checked into the ritzy establishment around 11.30am local time on Wednesday and made their way to Liam's swanky suite, reports the Mirror.

However, they departed just five hours later at 4pm, merely an hour before Liam met his untimely fate by falling from his balcony. In what would become his final moments, it is reported that Liam was embroiled in a heated exchange with an unidentified woman in the hotel lobby about money.

His life came to a tragic end after plummeting 45ft into the hotel's inner courtyard.

Hotel reception staff had frantically dialled 911 amid worries that a man, seemingly under the influence of alcohol and drugs, was behaving belligerently. Now, insiders claim Serrano and Goitea are "devastated".

They told The Sun: "Aldana and Lucila are absolutely devastated by what happened after they left the hotel. They co-operated with the police as soon as they were contacted and wanted to help with the investigation as much as possible.

"Police have the girls' phone numbers and they will contact them as and when they need if they feel they need any more information."

Both girls hail from the downtown area of Buenos Aires. Five individuals were questioned by the police, including the two women last seen with Liam for a "reconstruction of his last hours".

A local reporter on an Argentinian telly programme revealed: "He was with two women in his room where there was access to drugs. I'm not going to say their surnames.

"[Woman A] gave a statement last night and [Woman B] has just finished hers."

The prosecutors, in their initial official statement, confirmed that they had interrogated five witnesses, two of whom were women and three were hotel employees.

They also confirmed that Liam had 25 separate injuries. In their detailed statement, they also confirmed the removal of "several substances" from Liam's room, which they believe would indicate drug consumption prior to his fatal fall from a third-floor hotel balcony.

It remains unclear who might have provided him with the drugs.

A forensic report determined that Liam had sustained 25 injuries due to his devastating fall. They also highlighted that the cranioencephalic injuries were sufficiently severe to cause death, while the internal and external haemorrhages in the skull, thorax, abdomen and limbs contributed to the mechanism of death.

Forensic experts also concluded that, after analysing his hands, no defensive injuries were discovered. They found all the injuries on the body to be life-threatening and inflicted simultaneously, with no signs of injuries suggesting the involvement of third parties.
