The debut of Raw on Netflix streaming could also see the return of a WWE Hall of Famer: Charles Wright, best known The Godfather.

In a recent appearance on the "Poddin' Ain't Easy" podcast, Wright teased that he could make an appearance on Raw after it debuts on January 6 and that he is currently still under a WWE Legends contract.
"It was hard because they're so PG and, when they see me, the audience wants to yell, 'Where's the Hoes?'" Wright said. "You might see me down at ... once they go on Netflix I wouldn't be (surprised). I mean, I'm still under contract. I'm still under contract with them so I'm sure you might see me pop up."
The once and maybe future Godfather is referencing his most famous persona, which was controversially styled after a 1970s-style blaxploitation "pimp," complete with an entourage of scantily-clad women.
As The Godfather, he became a fan favorite during the Attitude Era, known for his charisma and memorable catchphrases. Wright won the WWE Intercontinental Championship once and was a two-time WWE Tag Team Champion, both with different partners. After retiring from active competition, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016 for his contributions to the company.
While the world of professional wrestling is well-known for its sometimes tasteless gimmicks, it appears that Wright's persona did not translate very well into the 2000s and on. However, he appears optimistic that he could return under the more loose content standards of streaming media.
Wright has made a number of WWE appearances since he was officially released from his contract in 2002 and went into semi-retirement.
On the podcast episode, the Hall of Famer went into more detail about a planned appearance that was derailed by COVID-19; although he was not specific as to the year, it presumably would have been around 2019-2020.
"When COVID hit, I agreed to come out to [the Andrè The Giant Memorial Battle Royal]," Wright said. "And that was going to be — I was going to come out as Kama, get eliminated, then I was gonna come back as Godfather [and] get eliminated."

"I don't even remember what" Wright continued. "I know that the last thing was Papa Shango and the lights were gonna go out and everybody, whoever was left... and COVID hit and they didn't do it."
