Civilization 7 being Steam Deck certified was never in doubt, given that it is releasing on last-generation consoles. This meant that the game already has built-in controller-friendly input, and is graphically scalable on older systems, making it a perfect fit for the Steam Deck.

Players who want to tackle stewarding their favorite civilizations through history with a mouse and keyboard can still do so on Steam Deck using its touchpads. It's a win-win for everybody.

Sid Meier's Civilization 7 is changing up the formula for the franchise, with a revamped structure surrounding its historical ages. For the first time in the franchise, the game is divided into three different ages, so you can't explore other ages.

The game will launch with 31 different civilizations, letting players mix and match leaders from various eras to play out fun what-if scenarios. Civ 7 also features multiplayer game modes, with support for cross-play so players across different platforms can play together.

Sid Meier's Civilization 7 will be released on February 11, 2025, on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
