YouTube is Testing a New Feature That Lets You Create Music Remixes by AI

The popular online video-sharing platform YouTube, is planning to bring a new feature that will take users’ music experience towards more advancement. The company is testing an AI feature that will allow users to restyle licensed songs for their shorts. The tech giant is adding a Dream Track Experiment feature which will give permission to small group of creators to alter and evolve a limited a number of official songs made available by select music partners.

YouTube will add selected users in the experiment group where they can select the eligible songs from some of the designated artists, including Charlie Puth, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, and John Legend. Users can restyle songs from these artists based on their taste. However, it is still unclear about the lists of songs YouTube will add under this experiment.

Additionally, users who are included in the experiment will be able to generate a unique 30-second soundtrack to use in their short. For example, if the user wants to give the song a new mood o genre, he or she can simply put their vision and idea into the ‘Restyle a Track’ prompt and they’ll have a customized soundtrack. The alter music will be different but will not minimize the essence of the original song’s vocals and lyrics. As per YouTube, “These restyled soundtracks will have clear attribution to the original song through the Short itself and the Shorts audio pivot page, and will also clearly indicate that the track was restyled with AI”

The company is also changing and coming up with some of the new features too, including gesture navigation on its mobile app. Now users don’t need to minimize the app or video while swiping. The app will now simply starts playing the next video that the company’s new AI model has recommended.
