In a fan-captured video posted to TikTok, the singer alerted the crowd that "tonight's something special".
"An old friend of mine is here for me tonight," Malik explained on stage.
"He's somewhere here. I don't want to give his location away, but Louis is here tonight," he added, name-dropping his former One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson.
Those last four words sent the crowd wild as they realised just who he was referring to.
In another fan-captured video from the heartwarming moment, Louis was seen standing in the box section of the theatre above the mosh pit.

'Come back in two years': Five words made Liam Payne a star
"Let's make these last couple of songs real special for Louis, yeah?" Malik said towards the end of the show.
He then finished the concert with his songs What I Am and Alienated.
Malik devastated fans when he left One Direction in 2015.
The band continued with Tomlinson and the other three remaining members – Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Niall Horan – before they went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.
After his exit, Malik had a heated Twitter exchange in 2015 with Tomlinson.
In the years since, the pair have appeared to have a strained relationship.
Tomlinson's appearance at Malik's show comes three months after their former One Direction bandmate Payne's death in October 2024.

Payne died aged 31 after he fell from a third floor balcony of a Buenos Aires hotel.
The late singer's One Direction bandmates – including Malik and Tomlinson – were all at his funeral on November 20.
That was the last time Malik and Tomlinson were publicly spotted together until now.
Malik has paid tribute to Payne at the end of his shows with a message on the screen that reads, "Liam Payne, 1993-2024, Love you Bro," with a red heart.

"We've been doing something at the end of the show every night, it's been dedicated to my brother Liam Payne. Rest in peace," he said.
"I hope you're seeing this, we're in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton, this is for you Liam."
