1000-Lb. Sisters star Amy Slaton is celebrating her weight loss progress with a shopping trip.
The TLC star, 37, shopped for her first-ever pair of heels after finally losing enough weight to be able to wear the shoes in a preview of the upcoming episode shared by E! News on Monday, October 28.
“When you lose weight, you’re not only losing it in your belly, your legs, your boobs, your ass, you’re losing it everywhere, your fingers and feet included,” Amy said in the clip of the Tuesday, October 29, episode. “I never know my shoe size.”
At the shoe store, an employee helped Amy find her shoe size and let the reality star pick out a few options of heels to try. “I always wanted a pair of heels, but I was never skinny enough,” the reality star explained. “When you’re fat and blind, your balance is kind of off, so on the ground is more sturdy.”
While Amy struggled to walk in a pair of stiletto heels, she found more success with a pair of block-heeled booties.
“When I try on the skinny heels, it feels awkward. It made me feel like a baby cow trying to walk for the first time. I haven’t gotten my sea legs yet,” she continued. “These heels feel nice.”
Outside the shop, Amy teared up as it dawned on her that she could finally buy the shoes she’s always wanted thanks to her weight loss journey.
“It’s registering that I have lost weight, and I’m not going to break the damn heel,” she said. “It’s a good moment. I mean, I wore heels for the first time. The fact that I’ve lost so much weight now that I could wear heels and actually want to wear heels to go on a date with is scary in itself.”
Amy has lost more than 175 pounds since she underwent weight loss surgery in 2019. Now that her body has changed significantly, she is focused on becoming more confident and finding a new sense of style, as seen on 1000-Lb. Sisters season 6. During the premiere on October 8, the Kentucky native shared that her next goal is to have excess skin removal surgery.
“Right now, I’m just going to focus on me, my mental health, my physical health, my outer appearance,” she explained. “I’m ready to change up the hair color. I just want to get some new hair and get rid of all this excess skin.”
Amy continued, “I’m just ready to start a new life and I need to have skin removal. I feel like a deflated balloon. Hopefully, I’ll get approved for the skin removal because I’m struggling right now to love myself. Eventually, I’m going to get there. Eventually, I’m going to find a way to love myself.”
Amy has not only gone through a significant physical change but also a significant personal change. Her ex-husband, Michael Halterman, filed for divorce in March 2023. Their split was finalized in October 2023, with the exes sharing custody of sons Gage and Glenn.
“I get the boys 70 percent of the time, Michael gets ‘em 30,” Amy explained on the show in April.
Fans are seeing the mom of two heal from her divorce in season 6, as well. During the premiere, Amy got emotional about living in the house she once shared with Michael, 41.
“I want to get rid of these couches because they remind me of Michael,” Amy told sister Amanda Halterman through tears. “I can’t stand them and I want to get rid of them.”
