Justin Johnson, who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Memphis rapper Young Dolph, has been sentenced to 35 additional years in prison.

Johnson was sentenced to 35 years for conspiracy to commit murder and 15 years for felon in possession of a handgun and will run concurrently with one another and with the murder count, adding a total of 35 years to the previous life sentence.

Johnson reportedly already had a dangerous rap sheet before he was charged with Dolph’s killing.

Cornelius Smith, one of Young Dolph’s suspected killers, says he received $500 and a letter after killing Dolph.

“The risk of life of individuals other than the victim in the case, the state would ask you to set maximum sentences,” said Assistant District Attorney Paul Hagerman.

In September, Johnson was found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

“These were crimes committed in our community in the middle of the day, in broad daylight with other people around for greed,” Judge Mitchell said during her ruling. “For greed, money and fame.”
