Boy, do I love sweater season. Accessories aside, I think knits might be my number one weakness when it comes to impulse shopping. As the ads I’m perpetually being served on Instagram will tell you, whether it’s a menswear-inspired v-neck, oversized turtleneck, or (my favorite) a classic crewneck style, I’m a complete sucker when it comes to being tempted by a great pullover sweater.
As with any staple fashion item, the fun is in the styling. There are some decidedly 2024 (and soon to be 2025) ways to wear your pullover sweaters—some are classic, some are creative, nothing too crazy, I promise. So if you’re looking for a little winter styling inspiration, I have it for you right here, care of the multi-talented designer/content creator/perpetual outfit inspirer Anouk Yve (who really knows what's up when it comes to elevating a cozy look). Enjoy this curation of her chic sweater outfits, plus some of my personal favorite pullover sweaters to shop this season.
With All the Different Textures
There's so much going on right now in terms of texture, both across ready-to-wear and accessories—mock croc, faux snakeskin, real and vegan suedes and patent leathers. The great thing about fall and winter is the opportunity to layer up and make things more interesting, and an extra-fluffy brushed knit sweater is just the thing to tie it all together.

Layered With a White T-Shirt
I personally think that one of the greatest unsung fashion moments from Friends (and perhaps all of the '90s?) is Ross Geller-style layering—which, for the uninitiated, is simply when you visibly layer a white t-shirt under your knitwear. One million bonus points if you tuck in all into belted mom jeans, and pair with loafers and socks.

Draped Over Your Shoulders
If 2023 was the year of tying a chunky sweater like a scarf, 2024 is the year of draping it effortlessly over your shoulders—sort of like a millennial shawl. And I will say, the magical friction of a wool coat and a knit sweater means it all stays in place quite nicely.

Paired with A Matching Knit
Forget whether they're designed to be worn together, this isn't meant to be your '90s sitcom-mom twin set. Let your matchy-matchy layering get a bit weird by way of extra turtlenecks or cardigan layers, which can feel especially good when you play around with styles and textures in the exact same tone.

Long Over a Sheer Skirt
I thought sheer skirts might have gone away, but the joke's on me—turns out, they actually make more sense in the cooler months, at least from my POV. I love juxtaposing weights and textures to balance a look, so what better pairing for an oversized, long-line knit than a sheer midi-skirt? Sheer tights can help it feel a little less nakey—and excuse me while I deviate from Anouk's styling for a second, because (like The Frankie Shop) I think a slouchy boot would make this all cooler still.

Tonal looks are such a chill way to make even the laziest, comfiest outfit feel chic and intentional. If you have a knit you love to death and usually pair with jeans, I implore you to hunt down some tailored bottoms to complete the look.
