76ers News: Joel Embiid, Paul George 'Furious' Someone Leaked Team Meeting Info

If the old adage that snitches get stitches holds true, then someone involved with the 76ers organization is going to be looking for a doctor in the greater Philadelphia area.

It was recently leaked that there was a Monday night meeting where Philadelphia star guard Tyrese Maxey criticized superstar Joel Embiid about being late to team functions and how that negatively impacted the rest of the Sixers.

Now, a source close to the former MVP told league insider Jake Fischer that Philadelphia's All-Star center was "going to be furious" and that he would attempt to find who leaked the story.

Embiid basically confirmed the source's assertion when he publicly spoke on the situation.

"Whoever leaked that is a real piece of s---," Embiid told reporters on Wednesday. "But even then, we talked about a lot of things. I don't want to get into the details, but that whole thing probably took 30 seconds."

First-year 76er Paul George also expressed his frustrations during Thursday's episode of his podcast.

"The conversation should have never just been leaked, period," George said. "It wasn't even like it was a meeting that went in that direction of the blame game or people confrontational to that extent. You know what I mean? So that it should have never gotten out, period."

"Whether you want to think it's for motivational purposes to the media or not, it wasn't that type of conversation for it to get leaked. I can see if there was two dudes challenging each other and loud arguing back and forth and it got overheard and then now something got leaked out but it wasn't that type of energy in there. So I don't know why or how that got leaked."

Sitting at 2-12 on the year after entering the season as a team many believed could challenge for an NBA title, the 76ers really shouldn't need any motivation to play better. They also would probably be better served using their energy on the court instead of figuring out who spilled the beans about Maxey calling out Embiid.

In a loss to the Grizzlies on Wednesday night, Embiid recorded season highs in minutes played (35:04), points (35), and rebounds (11). George departed that contest with a bone bruise in his knee and is expected to miss extended time.

The 76ers will host the Brooklyn Nets and old friend Ben Simmons in Philadelphia tonight. Assuming no stitches are required before game time, the Nets will be 7.5-point underdogs at tip-off.
