A$AP Ferg Says A$AP Mob Is Over And “A Thing Of The Past”

A$AP Ferg says that the days of A$AP Mob are over, and he has moved on. The Harlemite appeared on the latest episode of The Toure Show where he talked about the growth of his artistry and his career’s trajectory. But, to kick things off, Ferg addressed the elephant in the room: the state of A$AP Mob. With the collective growing distant in recent years and the last group album released in 2017, Ferg asserted that the group “is a thing of the past.”

“People came out and said that I wasn’t a part of A$AP no more,” he began, before Toure asked him whether he was still in the group. “I am A$AP. me, along with Rocky, and the founders who built it—RIP to A$AP Yams. I don’t think there is A$AP anymore. It’s not a new Cozy Tape out… there’s not an office… a record label, A$AP Worldwide… I think [A$AP] is a thing of the past. I think people hold on to the legacy that we created and those things. But when you think about A$AP, you think about... me and Rocky, who did the music, and of course, it was built off the backs of [A$AP Bari] and [A$AP] Yams, but we’re the faces. If we’re not making no music and not putting out no new timestamps, then there is no A$AP.”

Ferg then doubled down on examining the situation, insisting that he is focused on his brand right now. He referenced his latest album, Darold, and stated that he is committed to “the Ferg empire” in this next chapter of his career. Toure then asks the “Shabba” rapper, “So it’s Ferg now, it’s not A$AP Ferg?” to which he responds, “Yeah.”

In September 2024, A$AP Illz proclaimed that Ferg was no longer a part of the collective. During an interview with The Breakfast Club in November, Ferg claimed that he reached out to Illz and got him to retract his remarks. But the rapper noted to Charlamagne Tha God and Co. that the Mob was no longer as close as they once were.

“We used to live together because we were on tour together,” he said. “But as far as love, I love my brother to death… I would say that me and Rocky, we talk every now and then. I always check on his well-being, but we so busy just doing our own thing. He got two kids and he’s making music and got his career. This is exactly going the way we wanted it to go. I got my land over here, you got your island over here. We big pillars and then when we come together it gets crazy.”
