Adele on Final Vegas Show: 'Sh*tting Myself About What I’m Gonna Do'

Adele isn’t sure when she’ll return to the stage after bringing her Las Vegas residency to a close this weekend.

During an understandably emotional moment at the final date of the residency, held at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, the 16-time Grammy winner profusely thanked her partner Rich Paul for always supporting her artistic pursuits and encouraging when times were hard. She also referenced a much-discussed appearance from Celine Dion earlier into her residency, pointing to this moment as one of “closure” for her.

“It’s been wonderful,” she tearfully told the audience, who shouted back in support. “I will miss it terribly and I will you terribly. I don’t know when I will next wanna perform again. I’m not doing anything else. I’m actually shitting myself about what I’m gonna do. I don’t have any fucking plans.”

She quickly clarified that she will indeed return, though when, exactly, remains unknown.

“Of course I’ll be back,” she said. “The only thing I’m good at is singing and things like that. I just don’t know when I want to next come on stage.”

The Weekends With Adele residency, she added, was what she “needed for this season” in her life.

In an Instagram statement, seen below, Adele elaborated on the personal importance of this chapter and the undeniable emotion of bringing it to a close.

“This residency went on to micro what 30 was about - lost and broken to healed and thriving,” she told fans, adding that moving on from it was now “the only thing left to do.”

It’s an admirable stance, and not one often enough employed by artists in her sphere. Knowing when to close the proverbial door is just as important as knowing when to open it. What’s next for Adele is anyone’s guess, but it’s hard not to imagine her enjoying the same heights of critical and commercial success with which her past works have been met. The aforementioned 30, Adele’s most recent studio album, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2021 and was later nominated for the Album of the Year Grammy.

During a show in Munich back in August, Adele let fans know that would not be hearing from her “for an incredibly long time.” Also this year, she expressed a desire to have another child with Paul, joking that her future daughter is “going to put me in my place all the time.”
