Alex Bregman Sweepstakes Likely Down To Three AL Teams For $200 Million Star

The Alex Bregman sweepstakes is taking over the baseball world right now. Bregman is searching for a $200 million contract, but it's unclear if he'll land that lucrative of a deal.

While the exact details of the contract he'll sign are still in question, the market for him is becoming quite a bit more clear.

Houston sports reporter Ari Alexander recently listed the top three teams in the Bregman sweepstakes. The $200 million sweepstakes is likely going to come down to the highest bidder of these three American League clubs.

"Three teams have emerged as serious suitors for the Gold Glove third baseman," Alexander wrote in a post to Twitter/X on Friday. "The Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and Toronto Blue Jays have been described as 'very, very real' possibilities for Bregman by a league source."

The Tigers have been linked to Bregman for a few reasons. Detroit needs to add an impact bat and Bregman could be that guy. The Tigers also have a connection to the All-Star infielder with A.J. Hinch as their manager.

The Red Sox need a right-handed infielder, but Bregman may cause a bit of a logjam in the corner infield. Rafael Devers and Triston Casas could bounce between first base and designated hitter, though.

Nobody in baseball needs to acquire talent more desperately than the Blue Jays. Toronto hasn't done much this offseason and acquiring Bregman would be a huge step in the right direction.
