Amber Alert: Boy Rescued From Woman Accused of Shooting His Father

3 hours ago 3

The seven year-old subject of a Colorado Amber Alert has been rescued after the boy was allegedly kidnapped by a woman accused of shooting his father, police said.

Uriah Saye Jr had been seen in a car with 26-year-old Crystal Denmon, who was described in the alert as "armed and dangerous."

The boy is subject to a shared custody agreement between his mother and father, CBS News reported. His alleged kidnapper has no relation to him, Lakewood Police Department said in a notice on X, formerly Twitter.

Saye Jr was found unharmed after the Colorado State Patrol made contact with Denmon's vehicle. She was arrested at the scene, Lakewood Police Department said.

Lindsey Witzel, a public information officer for the department, told Newsweek: "At this time, Crystal is considered to be a suspect in this incident... this is a very active investigation and she has not yet been formally charged with any crimes. We do not have any timelines for when she may be charged or what she may be charged with."

According to CBS News, Denmon is an ex-girlfriend of Saye Jr's father and, despite a restraining order against Denmon from Saye Jr's father, she allegedly appeared at his house and shot him.

Denmon then fled the area with Saye Jr, as reported by Lakewood Police, driving a 2012 white Ford Focus through Cheraw.

The Amber Alert had warned people "for your safety, do not approach [Denmon]." It is unclear why she was subject to a restraining order prior to the suspected abduction.

Witzel said: "The location of Uriah was due in large part to successful teamwork from both Patrol officers and numerous Detectives at the Lakewood Police Department.

"Our agency also received assistance from multiple other agencies during this investigation, most notably Colorado State Patrol, who ultimately located Uriah near Last Chance, CO and took Crystal into custody.

"The last update I received yesterday evening was that Uriah's family was doing well, and they are relieved and overjoyed that he has been located safely."

Saye Jr's father was reported to be in stable condition and recovering in hospital.

Speaking after the boy was found, his mother Aurielle Green told CBS News: "I just want to hold him and never let him go."

His grandmother Stephanie Vaughn-Green told the outlet: "Praise the lord. Hallelujah, he is on his way back to his momma and we are just ecstatic."

The family added that they were now able to celebrate Thanksgiving with the family reunited.

Lakewood Police Department posted on X after Saye Jr was found: "We are extremely happy to say the child was recovered unharmed. HUGE thank you to the family."

They added in a press release posted to X: "Charges are pending at this time.

"We would like to thank our partner agencies who assisted on this incident, including Jeffcom 911, West Metro Fire Rescue, CBI, and the Colorado State Patrol."
