Former couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are set to face each other in court next year, according to reports.

The exes will see their long-running legal battle over their winery head to trial. They announced their divorce in 2019, which quickly led to a war over their assets. Angelina and Brad's French vineyard Chateau Miraval Winery has played a crucial role in the proceedings. Their estate, which produces award-winning sparkling rosé, set the former couple back around 25 million euros (£21.3million).

Angelina, 49, has filed motions to dismiss claims that Brad, 60, made against her. It is over a verbal agreement over their 50-50 ownership of the vineyard, where they held their wedding. She has argued that the agreement had been nullified after Brad requested she signed an NDA regarding their marriage.

"It's already been ugly but it's going to get even uglier as Angie is bent on retaliating against Brad and will try to continue to settle more old personal scores," a source told Daily Mail. "This is a straightforward business dispute, but unfortunately, the other side has consistently introduced personal elements which have exposed the weaknesses in their case and complicated and lengthened the proceedings."

LA Superior Court Judge Lia Martin threw out the motions and in court filings, it was been reported the judge found a basis in Brad's claims the verbal agreement was binding. Angelina may have violated the agreement when she sold her shares of the chateau to Stoli Group, a Luxembourg-based spirits manufacturer in 2021. The company is owned by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler.

Brad's lawyers have said Angelina violated the deal to not sell their respective stakes without both parties' permission. The former couple are set to face each other in court next year. Angelina and Brad had wed at the vineyard in the South of France in 2014. The Hollywood power-couple announced their split in 2016.

Since their separation, three of their six children have dropped their dad's last name. It was reported in 2023 that their eldest daughter Zahara, 19 had got rid of Pitt from her name, after introducing herself as "Zahara Jolie" when she arrived at a sorority at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.

It has since been said that Vivienne, who is the youngest daughter, born with her twin brother Knox back in 2008, has also decided to follow suit. In May it was reported that their daughter Shiloh would also be the same upon her 18th birthday, which she did. According to a source close to the 60-year-old Babylon star, he sees his daughter’s life decision as another indication he has "lost his children."

The actors are parents to Pax, 20, Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16. Both Maddox and Pax have reportedly not used their father’s last name in years, and Pax blasted Brad in a bitter online message on Father’s Day in which he called him an “a******” and a “f***ing awful human being”.
