Dancing With The Stars' Anna Delvey apparently saw the funny side after a fan dressed up as her for Halloween—complete with ankle monitor.
The convicted con artist—aka the Fake Heiress—was a contestant on the latest series of the ABC dance contest, where she was paired with pro dance partner Ezra Sosa. She is wearing an ankle monitor as she fights deportation from the U.S, and it was bejeweled for her twirl around the dancefloor.
The look evidently caught the eye of one fan, who decided to dress up as Delvey for Halloween. She posted a snap on Instagram showing her in a sparkly blue dress that wasn't dissimilar to one Delvey wore on DWTS, with an ankle monitor strapped around her leg.
Delvey, whose story inspired the Netflix series Inventing Anna, shared the image on her own Instagram Story, then Sosa appeared to respond to the snap too, joking: "LOVE."
Delvey gained notoriety for scamming thousands of dollars while pretending to be a wealthy socialite in New York. She was convicted on counts of grand larceny and theft of services in 2019 and released in 2021.
There was controversy when the Russian-born German citizen was signed up for the dance contest and she ended up getting her marching orders early on. But before that Sosa had urged people to give her another chance.
He posted a video message on Instagram saying that after reading some of the comments being made about her, Delvey had been found crying in the bathroom and that he was heartbroken about it.
Sosa went on: "I know what she did was really controversial and was not right, and I can never justify that for her and for anyone in her life. It's really hard for me because this person that I truly am just falling in love with every single day in rehearsal isn't the person that everyone sees in the media.
"No one deserves the amount of hate that she's getting right now. She deserves a second chance."
However, the duo were a part of the first eliminations of the season after performing a quickstep inspired by The Devil Wears Prada. They were eliminated from the competition in week two along with former Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling and her dance partner Pasha Pashkov.
As she was cut, Delvey was asked what she was going to take away from the competition and replied: "Nothing."
Newsweek has emailed representatives for Delvey and Sosa for comment.
