Ashlee Simpson is celebrating a major milestone in son Bronx's life: his 16th birthday. And fans can't get over just how grown up he is — and just how much he looks like his dad, Pete Wentz.
Simpson, who was married to the Fall Out Boy bassist from 2008 to 2011, paid tribute to Bronx with a loving tribute she shared via Instagram on Wednesday, November 20.
The "Pieces of Me" singer, 40, shared a series of photos of Bronx throughout his life in the carousel of images, including a recent shot where he stands more than a head taller than his mom. in the photo, Bronx grins at the camera with his arm around Simpson as they pose in front of an outdoor lights display. While he has his mom's light hair, his facial features look undeniably Wentz.
"Being your mom has been the greatest joy of my life. You are my rock my soul. My ride or die," Simpson gushed in the caption of the post. "You have been the greatest blessing in life that I could have ever dreamed of. I would not be me without you. Thank you for choosing me to be a mom, and YOUR mom."
The "Giving It All Away" artist, who also shares three children with husband Evan Ross, continued to praise Bronx on his milestone birthday.
"You are so calm, consistent, brilliant, loving, kind hearted, thoughtful, funny, mysterious, and incredibly awesome. I thank God every day that I get to be your mom," Simpson continued. "You are a true gift to this universe and I'm so lucky you are my very grown, and cool baby... happy 16th birthday. I love you. ... Thank you for making me the luckiest."
Celebrities and fans quickly filled the comments section with their reactions, with Selma Blair expressing her shock at "this grown child" and aunt Tracee Ellis Ross sharing her love for Bronx.
Simpson's followers, meanwhile, could not get over Bronx's resemblance to Wentz.
"Happy 16th birthday Pete Wentz Jr!! 🎉🎂," one person wrote.
"omg he looking like his dad wow," another marveled.
"He legit is @petewentz 's doppelganger 😍," a third person gushed.
The "Sugar We're Going Down" musician, for his part, also paid tribute to Bronx on social media.
"Happy birthday love you so much," Wentz — who also shares two other children with longtime partner Meagan Camper — captioned a selfie of him and Bronx on his Instagram Story.
