Avatar 3’s Gorgeous Concept Art Teases More of Pandora’s Beauty

2 weeks ago 3

Whatever else you think about James Cameron’s Avatar movies, there’s no denying they’re both utterly gorgeous and just full of visual splendor. Looking at photos or watching clips online, it’s easy to see how people hold the original and 2022’s The Way of Water in good regard, and why Disney would let Cameron keep making these movies.

The next film, Fire and Ash, didn’t get a full showcase at this weekend’s D23 Brazil, but Cameron did show up to present some concept art of what’s to come, which you can see below.. As expected, it all looks incredible and vivid in the way Avatar movies always do that also pretty much already guarantees it’s taking the VFX Oscar in 2026. Along with a nighttime view of Pandora’s ocean and its underwater wildlife, we see the Pandoran equivalent of blimps and hot air balloons, and a glimpse of the film’s big selling point: the Na’vi Ash People.

Unlike the Na’vi tribes featured in the first two movies, the Ash People will be antagonists for Jake Sully and his family. In 2023, Cameron explained he wanted to present “different sides” to Na’vi culture, in turn leading to the series’ first-ever Na’vi vs. Na’vi conflict. “We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters,” he said at the time. “I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal.”

According to Cameron at D23 Brazil, Avatar: Fire & Ash is currrently in post-production ahead of its December 19, 2025 release. The artists featured here are Zachary Berger, Steve Messing, and Dylan Cole.
