A mom has left the internet hysterical after hiring a babysitter for $60, only for her baby to sleep the entire time.
Karen Morici (@inrareformmom), 42, from Chicago, was hosting her oldest son's Christmas class party, so she hired her babysitter, Annie. Johnny, her youngest, proceeded to nap for the entire time. She filmed her baby, who was flat out, face down in his cot, and the footage garnered more than 1.6 million likes and over 12.3 million views.
"Annie told me he had fallen asleep right after I left and was still sleeping. I was in shock," Morici told Newsweek.
"Of course, he sleeps the entire time the babysitter is here, I thought. Sure enough, as I walked her out the door, I heard Johnny talking to himself in his room."
The mom later went into sleeping Johnny's room and gave her adorable son a lighthearted talking-to.
"Hey Johnny, the next time you wanna take a three-hour nap, could you do it when the babysitter is not here?" she lovingly said to her son, who was waking from his nap.
Morici added that the babysitter had to sit in their living room for the entire duration.
"There were many comments on the video suggesting I woke him up, but I would never wake a sleeping baby!" the mom told Newsweek.
"It's always helpful when Annie wears him out, and then he takes a little nap when I get home. Annie was actually sad that he slept the whole time because she wanted to snuggle and play with him, but didn't get a chance to hang out," Morici added.
Social-media users were obsessed with the sleeping baby and could relate to the situation.
"As a babysitter, thank you Johnny," posted Rach.
"He wanted to make a good impression so she'd come back!" wrote Meg.
"He sleeps the time you wasn't there, to spend time with you when you are back," commented Kassi.
"From the look from his eyes, he had a good nap, see you until 3 am," added another user.
Morici's older son, Dominic, has an ultra-rare disease called Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG). She conceived Dominic through IVF after being unable to conceive naturally.
CDG refers to a group of rare genetic disorders that affect the process of glycosylation—how cells in the body process proteins and lipids. This can lead to a range of health challenges, including developmental delays, organ dysfunction, and severe disabilities.
Morici started her TikTok to shed light on the struggles and provide humor around mothering a child with a rare disease. She even became the president of CDG Care, a nonprofit organization founded by parents of children with Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation.
At 41, she conceived naturally with Johnny, who arrived healthy and has not shown any symptoms of the disorder.
"I have no idea when children are supposed to hit milestones or what it's like to be a 'typical' mom. All I knew was caring for a medically complex child. Johnny has been a shining light in our family, and watching his relationship with Dominic grow has been nothing short of amazing," Morici said.
