The Christmas season might be over for 2024, but for the Christmas diehards, there's still the lure of scrumptious turkey and all the festive bits.

For those looking to scoff their remaining Christmas food well past the weekend or perhaps rustle up a fresh feast for the family members you've missed on the 25th, the post-Christmas sales could be just the ticket for bagging a cut-price turkey.

An anonymous poster in the 'BARGAIN LOVERS Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M, Primark, The Range and More' group couldn't believe their eyes when they stumbled upon a Sainsbury's Taste the Difference British Free Range Traditionally Dressed Game Hung Turkey big enough to feed a crowd of 10-12. It's the sort of price tag that could make anyone do a double-take.

This bird would normally have cost shoppers a hefty £70.32, but come Boxing Day, this clever customer nabbed not one but two gobblers for a mere 10p each. Despite the best before date being on Boxing Day itself, grabbing such a bargain would have anyone cheering if they were extending the merriments or even just freezing the birds for later.

Other bargain hunters could only gawk in green-eyed jealousy, wishing they too had snagged such a winning deal. A lass commented: "That's what I call a bargain, hope they are delicious." A fellow savvy shopper said: "My kind of person, you can't beat a yellow sticker. Enjoy it, good find".

One person was baffled by the idea of splashing out on a whole turkey when you can whip up a smashing dinner with just the crown. They penned: "Even if I could afford that at full price, I wouldn't buy it. We had Aldi roast Turkey breast, and it was nice. Unless you're gonna do the whole showpiece dinner, I can't see the point of buying a whole bird."

Another shrewd shopper suggested that holding off Christmas feast till Boxing Day might be the answer to snag unbeatable deals, musing you can celebrate in style without breaking the bank.

But not everyone was chuffed about the rock-bottom prices; some felt it was a tad disrespectful, with one person lamenting that the "poor turkey's life [had] been reduced to 10p". There's chatter that the price slash could've been a blunder, with folks guessing someone in charge of pricing might be in for a stern word.

The conversation then shifted to charity, with one person questioning, "Why do supermarkets not donate to homeless shelters? " This sparked a response in the comments from someone claiming: "We've often waited and watched the reduced produce for hours ready to pounce, and it gets taken away to the soup kitchens. Not fair on those of us struggling to buy reduced food for our families."

Sainsbury's has been contacted for comment.
