Head Strictly Come Dancing's judge Shirley Ballas has hit back at a 'childish' viewer who claimed the show was fixed.

Every year, the judges and stars of the show have to deal with back-to-back viewer accusations of the scores being a 'fix' when the contestants they like don't get to the stage they want them to. It was no different in this series of the BBC dance competition, with viewers taking to social media to slam the show.

One user said on X, formerly known as Twitter: "So frustrating when the judges can't mark properly as we then have the wrong people in the dance off and the wrong couple going home. Watching the smile fade off Sam's face after she did well each week was infuriating when her male counterparts had mistakes ignored."

Shirley caught wind of the fan's complaint and reposted it with a straightforward response. She wrote: "The show has been on over twenty years the public vote makes a difference. You the public can vote to save your favourites. It gets childish to blame the judges."

Angered fans took to the comment section to claim the judges were favouring stars, with one writing: "But let’s be honest, yous are overmarking people like Wynn since day 1, barely highlighting any mistakes a male celeb makes and then clamp down on the slightest mistake a woman e.g. Sam does so, of course, it’s gonna be affected and what the judges do take into consideration."

When Dr Punam Krishan and Shayne Ward were against each other in the dance-off, the judges were hit with more fix accusations. Unfortunately for Dr Punam, the Morning Live star was axed with her professional partner Gorka Marquez. "Both couples danced remarkably well, but I would also have saved Shayne and Nancy", she said at the end of last month.

"The thing is that Shirley would have voted to keep Shayne even if he'd played musical statues", one bitterly penned, "She's all about the men and always has been. She shouldn't be head judge. It's a disgrace." Another quickly jumped in to agree: "Shirley always has a bias towards the male contestants and she definitely has a soft spot for Shayne and Pete. Having said that, Punam was in trouble for a couple of weeks.

A third Strictly fan added, in reference to the late Len Goodman: "Len never favoured anyone and Anton just agrees with her on everything she's got a lot of power, Darcy is missed she left very quickly after her! I think the judges need a shake up and given walnuts and goodbye."
