Strictly’s Chris McCausland has revealed personal details about what his home life is like with his firecracker Brazilian wife.

Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland has stunned viewers and judges on the BBC talent show with his dedication to learning the tricky moves each week despite his disability. The comedian is the first blind contestant to take part in any series so far and alongside professional partner Dianne Buswell has managed to overcome the obvious difficulties he faces in the ballroom.

The CBeebies star was even left covered in bruises after "intense" rehearsals for his Salsa routine but has punched on throughout the series with his infectious humour helping him through. Presumably Chris looks forward to heading home after a long day in the dance studios but it sounds as though that can sometimes be anything but relaxing at times.

Chris lives with wife Patricia who he’s been married to since 2012 and their daughter Sophia. He’s shared details of what his personal life is like, claiming it’s hectic at times thanks to his Brazilian partner, who he says is very different from him. He told Gyles Brandreth's Rosebud podcast about their relationship dynamic and how they were when they first met: "We were very opposite, she comes across as very British but she's Brazilian, she came across when she was five or six," he said.

He went on to explain that the psychologist’s natural state of being is typical of her background: "Her life is chaos in the way that Brazilian people are chaos. It's a natural attribute of their being that they are very proud of - they bring chaos to any room. The number of times she'll be talking in Portuguese to her mum and then I'll say to her, 'Are you okay??What happened there?' It sounds like they had the most horrific argument and they're just talking about what they're going to do that day."

The couple met at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where Chris was performing in 2005. Patricia used to work in TV and she was filming a documentary there. Despite their differences the couple hit it off straight away and Chris explained why their chemistry worked: "Full of energy, took me out of my comfort zone, and I think me to her, I made her laugh and was almost this calming presence in her life that she was attracted to. We spent a lot of time together when the camera wasn't running, socialising, going out and doing things, and we just had a lot of fun," he said.

Chris and Patricia also spilled the beans on their marriage during an episode of David Mitchell's Outsiders, which featured fellow comic Alan Davies, last year. "On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy are you in your relationship?" Alan asked, prompting Patricia to reply: "I'll go for a good, solid nine and a half. And that's not to say I don't feel like it's a ten. I just feel there's always room for improvement, because we've got that winning mentality and that's why we're here."

Patricia was shocked when she turned to see Chris feigning shock at her score, as he jokingly quipped: "You'd go nine and a half?" When she repeated her score again, the comedian shrugged and said: "Yeah nine and a half." Patricia thanked him for agreeing, but Chris continued to wind his wife up, as he asked her again: "Nine and a half?"
