Wynne Evans and Katya Jones reacted to the viral "hand incident" on Strictly Come Dancing. The 35-year-old Russian-born dancer previously shared a statement addressing an "awkward" interaction with her Strictly partner, 52-year-old Evans, the opera singer from the GoCompare adverts.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday evening the BBC Radio Wales presenter took part in a Q&A where he interacted with Strictly fans, who have since rushed to support the amateur dancer.

One viewer penned: "No Q [question] but keep doing what you're doing Wynne! We are beyond proud of you [Welsh flag and clapping hands emoji]."

Wynne issued a heartfelt response as he thanked the commentator for their kind words.

He replied: "Ah... thank you. I have to say Katya and I have loved all the support we've had. It's been utterly amazing.

"I can't believe I'm still here but I'm loving every second of it. It's brilliant."

The moment came when Katya appeared to move Wynne's hand away from her midriff during a live segment on the BBC dancing series over a week ago.

Katya and Wynne have attempted to put the incident behind them as they brushed off the recent furore, as the pair just "messing around", calling it a "silly joke".

In a second statement on Instagram, she said: "I need to make something crystal clear.

"The hand incident that happened on Saturday night was a very silly inside joke between Wynne and I.

"So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is complete nonsense. It’s actually absurd.

"So let’s focus on how brilliantly Wynne Evans is doing and what an amazing dancer he’s becoming."

Taking to social media, the 2023 Celebrity MasterChef winner also added: "Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around.

"We really are amazing friends. The high 5s is a running joke. Have a great evening."

The dancing duo returned to the Strictly dancefloor on Saturday night, performing the quickstep to Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra.

They were a hit with judges and viewers alike after scoring an impressive 33 points out of 40.

Katya and Wynne made it through to this week's show, however, Strictly fans bid a sad farewell to Paul Merson and his dance partner Karen Hauer, who were voted out of the competition.
