This year's Strictly has still been hit with drama

Strictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans has shared his behind the scenes worries ahead of Saturday night's show.

The opera singer – who is also famous for appearing in the Go Compare adverts - is paired with pro dancer Katya Jones. The duo are set to dance the Rumba to Dame Shirley Bassey's classic tune 'This Is My Life' this weekend for the newly introduced 'Icons' week.

But 52-year-old Wynne - who had to deal with an alleged 'grope' incident, which he's said was completely misconstrued - has revealed he has some big concerns ahead of his performance.

During a candid Instagram Q&A, he revealed: "I don't know. I don't look at what's coming up. I just have to focus on getting through this week. I'm now the oldest and the fattest, so the fact I've made it this far is incredible."

Wynne also opened up about the incident with Katya, which sparked concern from some members of the audience. He came under fire after it was noticed he placed his hand on Katya's waist - which she immediately removed while on the live show.

Shortly afterwards, the duo took to social media to claim their exchange was simply an "inside" joke and wasn't to be taken seriously. But the backlash Wynne received for it left him "heartbroken".

He said: "I'm absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me. It's not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we're really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke.

"It was a stupid joke that went wrong, okay? We thought it was funny. It wasn't funny. It has been totally misinterpreted. Everything's on Katya's socials. She's talked about it. She's explained that it was a joke."

The classical singer continued: "She wasn't offended in the least. She doesn't feel uncomfortable. We've got a brilliant friendship, an absolutely tight friendship, and I'm sorry if anybody was offended by it, but it was a joke. And that's all there is. There is no real story, really. I feel weird apologising because I feel like I've not really done anything."

Putting on a united front of Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two, Wynne spoke about their upcoming turn on the dancefloor and shared: "Rumba, I'm enjoying, but I don't know if I'm doing it right. I've got concerns about the hips. The hips, the hips, the hips."

Cheering him on, Katya said, "The hips are getting looser. Wynne's got beautifully shaped long legs so if we can put the legs with the hips, it'll be perfection. Can we get there by Saturday, who knows?"
