Strictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans has expressed concerns he might not make it to the next week of the show as the competition passes the halfway mark.
Evans confessed he needed to “focus on getting through this week” in a Q&A with Strictly fans on social media.
The 52-year-old opera singer and radio presenter added that he was now the oldest participant and considered it “incredible” that he had made it this far.
Evans and his dancer partner Katya Jones have so far avoided placing in the bottom two, although their week six Halloween special performance received a score of 31 out of a possible 40, positioning them towards the lower end of the table.
In response to a fan question asking if he would face a ballroom routine next week, Evans said: “I don’t know. I don’t look at what’s coming up.

“I just have to focus on getting through this week. I’m now the oldest and the fattest, so the fact I’ve made it this far is incredible.
“So just focus on this week and getting through this week and then we’ll see if I’m there next week.”
Evans went on to speak on the mental health benefits of dance, referencing his experience since starting training for the show.
“I’m actually finding it really good for my mental health as well. I’ve talked about my mental health a lot, it’s been fragile over the years, and I’m finding that dancing is really good for that”

This week Evans and Jones will be tasked with performing the rumba, a challenging combination of quick side steps and subtle hip movements.
Ahead of Saturday night’s show, Evans said he was certainly giving dance training his “best shot”.
He added: “There’s a lot of hips in the rumba, I may have actually discovered where my hips are.”
The couple are down to the final 10 in the competition but are yet to face a public vote.
Earlier in the series, the pair were at the centre of an apparent scandal after a “silly joke”, involving Evans sliding his hand around his dance partner’s waist and her pushing him away, went viral.
Following the incident, both Evans and Jones confirmed the act was a “stupid joke that went wrong” and insisted they had a “brilliant friendship”.
