I'm a Celeb: Ant calls for viewers to vote for different trialists

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly made it clear that they’d had enough of the public’s voting antics in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

Dean McCullough, 32, has been put through the wringer so far on the show, taking on multiple Bushtucker trials despite fans not being impressed by his commitment to see them through. Talking on I’m a Celebrity Unpacked, Ant and Dec begged the audience to stop voting in Dean and let someone else have a go at winning stars.

“Right, let’s all have a serious talk, and I’ll look directly in the camera here,” Ant, 49, said, as he angled himself to look straight at the viewers at home. “Oh God!” Dec, 49, jokingly shouted, realising that his TV partner was about to put his foot down. “I think it’s good to see other faces down there,” Ant said, clarifying, “This is not a personal thing, and it’s not about Dean.”

Ant got louder and more passionate as he continued: “It’s about us just seeing different people down there! And I think we want to see different people on the show being featured. Some people unfortunately aren’t getting - you know what, I’d like to see Barry do a trial, let’s see Melvin down there, Oti! But we find this every year when someone gets voted multiple times. You just get to a point where you go, ‘Who’s still voting for Dean?’ I don’t get it.”

The other people at the table were quick to agree, with Dec also backing Ant’s request to mix things up. “My thing is, I think we all know how he’s going to react and how he’s going to do. I would like to see some other people,” Dec said.

While Ant and Dec finally spoke out about Dean’s constant trials, I’m a Celeb fans at home have been saying the same thing for days. Many fans took to Twitter to complain about the situation, begging to see other people in trials and ever vowing to boycott the show if nothing changed.

“There are 12 celebrities in the jungle, and you’re trying to tell me that people STILL want to see Dean do a trial… ESPECIALLY BY HIMSELF? Well, don’t blame me if he says ‘I’m a celebrity, get me out of here’ in this task tomorrow,” one person said on X.

Another raged: “F**k sake, I’m going to have to stop watching I’m A Celebrity now! Which fools keep voting for Dean to do these trials! Let someone else have a go! P***es me off.” Some fans even predicted that Dean would be driven to quit the show completely if he wasn’t given some downtime from the trials.

"Mate mark my words Dean will be the first to walk,” one person said, with a second agreeing, "Shocked Dean has not quit already."
