Scottish comedian Janey Godley has died in hospital “surrounded by her loved ones”, her management has confirmed.
Janey, a mum-of-one, developed ovarian cancer in 2021 but had been given the all-clear a year later as a scan showed "no evidence of disease".
However, in a devastating update, she later shared that a subsequent scan had detected signs of the disease in her abdomen.
In a statement, her manager Chris Davis said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our client Doctor Janey Godley on 2nd November.
"Janey died peacefully in the wonderful Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow surrounded by her loved ones.
"She will be hugely missed by her family, friends and her many fans.
"She will be remembered for her legendary voiceovers of Nicola Sturgeon during the pandemic, her hilarious and outspoken comedy, but most of all for just being 'Janey'."
As a result, she had to cancel her autumn 2024 tour due to her illness. Last month, she broke the heartbreaking news to fans on X, announcing that she was receiving end-of-life care.
Diagnosed with ovarian cancer back in November 2021, Janey had to face the tough reality that her condition had worsened and take the difficult step of moving into hospice care as doctors confirmed they've done all they could.
Despite grappling with her impending fate, Janey found the strength to speak up about her plight, while also showering praise onto the NHS staff, the support system from her friends and family, and remaining resilient throughout her emotional update.
Janey shared: "It is devastating news to know that I'm facing end of life, but we all come to an end sometime." Overcome with emotion, she said: "I hope you all have a lovely Christmas. Hopefully I might be here. Who knows? Don't know. I'm not a tick tock.
"But I just want you all to that I'm sending all my love and support to everybody else out there who is living with a life limiting disease."
Born in poverty in Glasgow in 1961, Godley went on to become a regular co-presenter on BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends, as well as fronting BBC Radio 4 series The C Bomb.
The comedian was photographed at Turnberry golf resort with her infamous "unwelcome" sign for Donald Trump in 2016.
In 2023, Godley became the winner of the inaugural Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival.
The comedian was given the all-clear in 2022 but later that year announced another scan.
