King Charles "could be embarrassed again" by Prince Andrew over funds provided by a mystery donor for Royal Lodge, a royal expert has warned.
On an episode of The Royal Beat, titled 'A Royal Red Carpet', host Kate Thornton discussed the ongoing feud between the King and his brother, Prince Andrew, over the Royal Lodge.
In a recent development, it was revealed that despite the King's attempts to evict him, Andrew has secured funds to continue residing in the £30million mansion.
The controversy emerged when it was discovered that Andrew was struggling with the mansion's upkeep costs of £400,000. Meanwhile, King Charles has reportedly cut his brother's living allowance and ceased funding his security detail.
However, Andrew has managed to secure funds from an anonymous benefactor, as reported by the Express. Matt Wilkinson, The Sun's Royal editor, has now commented on the situation, stating that Charles has "tried to wash his hands" of his brother Andrew.
Matt continued: "But Andrew has managed to drag the King back in by, as you point out, got reassurances from the...or told the Keeper of the Privy Purse that this money is legitimate.
"He's then...if that turns out to be, and as discussed, his history that he has had, you know, problems with where he's received money in the past, if it turns out there are issues with this money or the donor, you drag the King and the royal household back in again.
"And that's what they were trying to avoid by cutting him off of the money and that's what I worry in years or months when we do find out where the money's come from because we are trying to find out.
"I worry that the King will be dragged into it, and he could be embarrassed again by his brother."
Despite Andrew securing the funds, Robert Hardman, a royal author, suggests that the King is contemplating removing treasures from the mansion, reports Aberdeen Live.
He informed Palace Confidential that the Royal Collection possesses numerous treasures within the property and may decide that it "can’t be confident that this place is safe anymore."
Meanwhile, Andrew's daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, are reportedly displeased with their father's treatment and are thought to have "drawn up a battle plan" to support him.
A source told Express.co.uk: "The York family have held several meetings and drawn up a battle plan. They will not allow their family to fall or come up against any more negative press."
Buckingham Palace has been contacted by for a response.
