Presenters Ant and Dec have addressed their link to Dean McCullough after it emerged they have worked together before.

Fans discovered that the BBC Radio 1 presenter once starred on Britain’s Got Talent, which is hosted by Ant and Dec. In fact, the Geordie duo were side of stage as Dean wowed as part of his dance troupe The Glambassadors in 2013.

Dean was aged just 20 during his time on the series, in which they got to the live semi-final. Fans have previously expressed surprise that the duo had failed to acknowledge previously knowing him.

But they cleared it all up during an Instagram Live Q&A with fans. One viewer asked: “Do you remember meeting Dean on Britain’s Got Talent years ago,” to which Ant says: “Good question but the answer to that is no.”

Speaking about his BGT appearance, Dean who had studied at drama school, said at the time: “We formed because we all know each other through working in dance.

“But a week before the auditions we lost two guys who got jobs in LA. So we found two other friends and we had one rehearsal before we got to the stage.

“I choreographed the dance so I was under pressure to get it sorted.“We were winging it but I think because of the pressure we were under it all came together and now I have made friends for life. We have all been on this journey together, none of us have ever done anything like this before.”

Opinionated: Ant and Dec have hit out at Dean

They lost out to eventual winners Attraction. Dean has had a love-hate relationship with Ant and Dec since the show began. They have been particularly enraged by his apparent lack of effort in trials at the beginning. Ant in particular has been very outspoken about him.

He even said this week: “I’m never going to follow him on Instagram. Never. That’s not going to happen. Never going to happen." His latest outburst against Dean came 24 hours after he begged viewers to stop voting for him to take part in the trials.

He told viewers: "Well, right. Let’s all have a serious talk. I’m going to look directly into the camera here. I think it’s good to see other faces down there."
