Ben Affleck’s Reported Desire To Go No-Contact With Jennifer Lopez Isn’t Working for This Reason

Ben Affleck is reportedly ready for a break from his tumultuous year with Jennifer Lopez, but he can’t get one. Even though the former dynamic duo is working their way through a divorce, they often have to cross paths during a fairly uncomfortable time in their breakup.

The issue is that Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s 15-year-old child Fin, and Lopez and Marc Anthony’s 16-year-old twins Emme and Max go to the same Los Angeles school. As any parent knows, school activities keep a family busy — which means a few run-ins between Lopez and Affleck at a time when they would rather not see each other. “Ben knows he’s going to see Jen at these functions. Their kids go to the same school, so how could he not?” an insider told In Touch Weekly. “Still, it’s awkward.”

The exes recently had this happen on Oct. 18 when Lopez was at the same event as Affleck and Lopez at their kids’ school. Lopez went with Emme and two other friends while Affleck and Garner had Fin in tow. The “I’m Real” singer looked unbothered by the situation as she walked with confidence into the school, but Affleck looked a little stressed by the situation as the paparazzi snapped their photos. Lopez might be dealing with the fallout of her split, but she isn’t going to let that impact Emme’s close bond with Fin. “A divorce is never easy, but Jennifer doesn’t want to be selfish about it. The kids always got along and have fun together,” a source told People in September. “It makes her happy seeing the kids happy together. Happy kids are her priority.” 

In addition to the school issue, Lopez is currently promoting her film Unstoppable, which was produced by Affleck and Boston buddy Matt Damon’s production company. Damon has picked up the slack during red carpet events while Affleck was noticeably absent. “Ben and Jen are resigned to keeping things as is,” the In Touch Weekly source concluded. “The hope is it’ll get easier as time goes by.”

Perhaps once the financial aspects of their divorce are worked out and their $61 million Beverly Hills mansion is sold, Affleck and Lopez can truly move on.
