Beyonce announces highly-anticipated Cowboy Carter tour ahead of Grammy showdown

Beyonce fans are over the moon at the announcement of Beyonce's high-anticipated tour named Cowboy Carter, which follows her country album released last march of the same name.

The 32-time-Grammy-winning singer uploaded two posts onto her Instagram this morning - one is a short video of a flashing Cowboy Carter Tour neon sign and the other is a close-up picture of the singer's face. While her homepage of her website has been updated with the same display, fans were left disappointed as no further tour dates have been shared yet.

This announcement comes just hours before the 67th Grammy Awards tonight, where Beyonce and Taylor Swift are both up for the album of the year award. The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles at the Crypto.com Arena and will be broadcast to the UK on Paramount+, along with other streaming sites, at 1am on Monday, February 3.

Beyonce posted twice on Instagram to announce her new tour.

The show will consist of performances from Brat star Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter. The Mirror reports that Beyonce will be most recognised artist of the evening after receiving 11 nominations from a selection of different categories.

Her single Texas Hold 'Em is up for record of the year, song of year and country song of the year. The Cowboy Carter album is also nominated for country album of the year and album of the year. If she were to win this year, it would be the first album Beyonce has been nominated for to win the award, after falling short four times previously.

However, she is up against Taylor Swift's latest release, The Tortured Poets Department, which the 35-year-old revealed at last year's ceremony, after winning Best Pop Vocal Album of the year for her Midnights album. Swift has also received five other nominations.

Beyonce was initially due to announce her tour in January but decided to postpone doing so due to the havoc caused by the wildfires in California, which saw thousands of homes ruined and communities devastated. The 43-year-old singer donated $2.5 million (£2.05 million) to Los Angeles relief efforts through her foundation BeyGood.

On Instagram, the superstar wrote: "The January 14th announcement will be postponed to a later date due to the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires around areas of Los Angeles. I continue to pray for healing and rebuilding for the families suffering from trauma and loss. We are so blessed to have brave first responders who continue to work tirelessly to protect the Los Angeles community."
