Blockbuster Trade Idea Could Send $200 Million Star To Yankees For Top Prospect

The New York Yankees need to add one more infielder to complete their Juan Soto emergency backup plan. They were heavily connected to Alex Bregman, but those dreams seem to be crashing down.

Patrick McAvoy of Sporting News recently put together a hypothetical trade package that would give the Yankees the infielder they're looking for, but it would come at a cost.

McAvoy's hypothetical deal would send Minnesota Twins infielder Carlos Correa to the Yankees, but it would cost them top prospect Jasson Domínguez. McAvoy also notes this deal is quite unlikely, but it's still plausible.

Here's the deal pitched by McAvoy which would send Correa to the Bronx in exchange for a prospect package headlined by Domínguez.

  • New York Yankees receive: INF Carlos Correa
  • Minnesota Twins receive: OF Jasson Domínguez (No. 1 prospect), INF Oswald Peraza, RHP Ben Hess (No. 8 prospect), and RHP Clayton Beeter (No. 19 prospect)

"This is just a hypothetical deal but it would land a bonafide superstar in New York for at least the next four years after he signed a six-year, $200 million deal," McAvoy wrote. "There are four vesting years beyond that as well. New York would have to give up a haul, including Domínguez, but the Yankees immediately would be considered the best team in the American League."

Correa would be a huge addition for the Bronx Bombers, but this feels like a very steep price to pay. Up until this point, Domínguez has seemingly been looked at as untouchable for the Yankees. Would they give him and three other players up for Correa?
