Bridget Moynahan Reveals the Fellow Celeb She Embodied to Nail Her 'Sex and the City' Audition

If you’re a big fan of Sex and the City or And Just Like That…, then you might know actress Bridget Moynahan as the effortlessly beautiful and elegant Natasha Naginsky. After all, while her role as Natasha might’ve been brief, her memory loomed over Sarah Jessica Parker‘s character Carrie for years to come.

Most recently, during TVLine‘s first-ever TVLine Spotlight, Moynahan looked back at her audition for the part.

“[Production] showed up an hour late for the audition and I’m like calling my agents like ‘They’re not here, I have to leave, I have to go to the other one,'” Moynahan remembered. “Thank God I didn’t leave!”

“It was [a] one-line audition and the line was ‘Nice to meet you,'” the Blue Bloods star recalled. “I want you to know I put a lot of work into that line.”

According to her, the secret to her delivery was embodying Carolyn Bessette, the late fashion icon and wife to JFK Jr. “I had a whole inspiration, Carolyn Bessette was my muse for that line,” Moynahan added.

Moynahan then humbly looked back at her role, admitting that she never had that many lines to work with.

“I think honestly, if you really go back, I’ve probably got about three lines in my whole season and a half,” she said. “It was always like she was spoken about, she was seen, but I really didn’t have that much dialogue.

“But it changed the course [of my career],” she added. “It was one of those roles. That and Coyote Ugly, kind of happened at the same time.”

Moynahan also gave her two cents on the theory that Natasha only wore white to make her less menacing. “They did right? That’s why I was confused in And Just Like That…, I was like in shades of blue, I was like ‘Wait, I have a thing.'”

As a reminder, Moynahan’s character Natasha made a brief return in SATC‘s reboot And Just Like That… when Big (Chris Noth) left money to her in his will folllowing his death. “I’m sorry for everything,” Carrie told Natasha in their impromptu coffee-shop meeting. “I appreciate that,” Natasha responded. “But we’re okay, it’s all the past. But maybe we shouldn’t follow each other on Instagram.”
