Cher has revealed that Val Kilmer is the only celebrity who ever ended a relationship with her. The music legend opened up during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, offering rare insights into her personal life and past relationships.
Cher and Kilmer's relationship began in 1982 and lasted until 1984, at a time when both were making headlines for their respective careers.
The pair's 13-year age difference-Cher was in her late 30s, and Kilmer was in his mid-20s-sparked plenty of public chatter. Reflecting on why Kilmer decided to end things, Cher explained, "He was really young," suggesting that age and life experience played a role in their split.
During the interview, host Howard Stern posed a bold question about whether her partners expect "fabulous sex" because of her iconic status. With her signature wit, Cher replied, "Yes, and they get it," highlighting her self-assured nature.
"Few men, few men [would leave me]," she said.
"Look, I was madly in love with Val Kilmer and he left."
How did Cher meet Kilmer?
Despite their breakup, Cher has spoken warmly about Kilmer over the years. In 2021, she revealed they first connected at her birthday party in the early 1980s, and while their age gap was a topic of discussion at the time, it never overshadowed their connection.
"I met him at a birthday party my friend was having for me. She said, 'I invited this guy and I think either you or my friend who's an editor will like him'," she recalled.
"We became friends because we laughed at the same things constantly. He would sleep over and it was just a friendship [at first]. That took a long time. Well, I guess not really a long time."
