Liam Payne’s funeral took place this week, and saw multiple figures from throughout his life reunite to honour the tragic loss of the musician.
Alongside the reunions between family and friends, as well as his former band One Direction, three of his past romances put their differences aside to mourn his untimely death. Cheryl, 41, was in attendance at the intimate funeral, alongside the seven-year-old son, Bear, who she shares with Liam.
She was joined at the event by Liam’s most recent girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, 25, and former flame Danielle Peazer, 26.
Danielle, who dated Liam from 2010 to 2013, was accompanied by her new partner, radio presenter Sonny Jay, 31. Danielle and Sonny welcomed a daughter, Mia, in May this year, and fans were moved to see the couple in attendance alongside Kate and Cheryl.
“Seeing Danielle Peazer pay her respects at Liam’s funeral alongside Sonny Jay is so touching. Their history and respect for each other even after all these years is a testament to Liam’s impact on everyone around him,” on fan praised on Twitter.
Despite their relationship ending over a decade ago, Lauren and Liam seemed to have stayed connected over the years. In 2022, the former couple was seen leaving the Nobu Hotel in Shoreditch, London, together, with some fans speculating that they may have briefly rekindled their romance. Around the same time, they were also spotted together at celeb hotspots Chiltern Firehouse and Annabel's.
Liam died at the age of just 31 on the 16th October, after falling from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and just a couple of days after his death Danielle shared a moving tribute on Instagram showing her love and respect for her former partner.
"Over the last few days I've been trying to process the news of Liam's death. Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to call, text, or DM sending condolences and offering support. I'm so grateful and it's helped more than you know,” she wrote.
"In time I will share more, but right now I don't feel mentally strong enough to face the reality of what's happened. Like all of us, I too am grieving, and need to take some time to do that privately. It's a heartbreaking time, which has already been made so much more challenging due to receiving negative and misinformed comments as well as pre-conceived judgement from those who don't personally know me, Liam or anything about our relationship over the last 14 years."
The former X Factor dancer concluded: "I will be back soon when I'm ready, but until then please take care of yourselves and each other."
Kate, who had been dating Liam since 2022, shared a similar message on social media, with part of a long statement reading: "Liam, you had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I've lost the best part of myself. I can't imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life."
