Star of Clarkson’s Farm and Oxfordshire farmer Kaleb Cooper has issued a scathing statement in the wake of Wednesday’s budget announcement.
In a crowded Commons, the Chancellor confirmed a flood of new tax measures will be introduced in a bid to patch the £40bn financial ‘blackhole’ in UK funds.
As part of the wave of tax hikes, Rachel Reeves revealed agricultural property relief would be slashed, meaning farmers will now be subject to a sharp increase in inheritance tax.
In a message to fans, Cooper urged agricultural workers to “stick together” as the new measures place an unexpected strain on British farmers.

In the caption of an Instagram post shared to his 2.7 million followers, Cooper wrote: “After the news today, I want to say this and that is: Farmers keep your head up and remember we all need to stick together.”
He ended the message with an obscure question, asking followers: “Is it time?”
Messages of support from fans of the farmer turned TV personality poured into the comment section.
One user wrote: “Pretty sure you and Jeremy [Clarkson] could actually lead a revolution of people from across agriculture.”
Another added: “My family’s farm has been in the family for four generations. It would break my heart if one day my nephew had to sell it to pay inheritance tax.
“Farming is a way of life that passes down generations to generations all to feed the country. They are custodians of the land for the next generations. The government doesn't understand a thing.”
On Wednesday, Reeves announced the previous 100 percent agricultural property relief policy would now only apply to the first £1 million worth of assets.
Above the established threshold, qualifying assets will only be afforded 50 percent relief from inheritance tax.
Reacting to the new economic measures, president of the National Farmers’ Union Tom Bradshaw said: “It’s been a disastrous budget for family farmers, and especially tenant farmers.
“The shameless breaking of clear promises on Agricultural Property Relief will snatch away the next generation’s ability to carry on producing British food, plan for the future and shepherd the environment.”
Addressing the Prime Minister directly, he added: “Before the election, Keir Starmer promised to establish a new relationship with farming and the countryside. Well, he’s certainly done that.”
