Claudia Winkleman’s £300 Strictly rhinestone dress sold out - but we found a £90 alternative

Claudia Winkleman’s fans loved her black rhinestone dress from the Strictly Come Dancing icons episode, and we managed to track down an almost identical version that's perfect for parties

This week’s Strictly Come Dancing saw the contestants channel their inner musical icons in a brand new special episode. Although their costumes had everyone talking, there was another outfit that stole that spotlight; Claudia Winkleman’s black rhinestone dress.

“Where’s Claudia’s dress from?” asked one follower on Instagram, whilst another added: “Love that dress Claud”. Sadly Claudia’s exact dress, the £300 Black Rhinestone Mesh Long Sleeve Midi Dress from Self Portrait, has completely sold out.

However we managed to track down the perfect alternative that’s more than £200 cheaper, with the Gemmy Mesh Maxi Dress from Jaded Rose costing you £89, and it's undeniably perfect for any upcoming Christmas parties.

Just like Claudia’s Self Portrait dress, the Jaded Rose version has a mesh overlay covered in crystal embellishments, with a fully lined bodice and sheer arms for a subtle hint of skin. The figure-hugging fit is perfect for flattering your figure, and it has a floor-sweeping maxi hemline that elongates your figure and makes a dramatic statement.

It’s available in sizes 8 to 14, and the bodycon style has plenty of stretch so it hugs your curves and falls beautifully. One major difference between the two is that whilst Claudia’s was covered in black gems, the Jaded Rose crystals are silver, however this simply adds to the sparkle and eye-catching design of the dress.

If you loved the all-black design of the Self Portrait dress, there’s a similar version, also from Jaded Rose, which has several similar design elements to Claudia’s. The Penny Hotfix Stud Maxi Dress is head-to-toe in black rhinestones and also features flattering ruching around the waist to help define your figure.

However, it has slightly less sparkle than the Gemmy Mesh one and doesn’t have the mesh overlay like both Claudia’s and the Gemmy Mesh version. Instead has a completely opaque base layer.

If you’ve got your heart set on Claudia’s exact dress, though, you can currently rent it from Hurr for as little as £5.45 a day depending on how long you want to keep the dress. You can choose to rent it from four days up to 30 days, although it’s worth noting that the dress is currently only available to rent in a size 8.

Elsewhere, Quiz’s Black Embellished Maxi Dress , £94.99, has a more formal design that’s perfect for gala’s and evening events, with a sweetheart neckline and cami straps. It’s also covered in subtle black rhinestones, and has a maxi length hemline which reaches the floor and a figure-hugging fit that accentuates your silhouette.
