Cobra Kai‘s Final Trailer Is the Best Around for Bringing the Saga Together

2 hours ago 4

Over the seasons, Cobra Kai has done just about every single thing a fan of The Karate Kid could ask for. It’s brought back classic characters, continued open storylines, and given incredible depth to people you never realized needed it. With only five episodes left though there’s still at least one more thing it hasn’t done: use the franchise’s most famous song, “You’re the Best” by Joe Esposito. That is, until now. Maybe.

We still don’t know if those final episodes of Cobra Kai, which debut on Netflix February 13, will actually feature that song but we do have a pretty strong hint. The trailer for those final episodes (which, as a result, makes it the show’s final trailer ever) does use the song. So even if “You’re the Best” doesn’t make it to the show itself, the way the song ties together a trailer encapsulating the entire 40-year-old Karate Kid franchise is, well, the best. Check it out below.

We truly love that trailer, especially how it goes back through some of the show’s previous cameos, linking it with the original three movies. Ultimately though, Cobra Kai has been about much more than the exploits of Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) in those movies. It’s been about giving Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) a proper chance to redeem himself and introducing us to a whole new generation of karate kids. Kids who, in these final episodes, are going to have a chance to be world champions as the Sekai Taikai—somehow—moves from Barcelona, Spain to the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California.

Really though, where else could it take place? As we know from six seasons of Cobra Kai, and multiple Karate Kid movies, in the Valley there are three undeniable truths: death, taxes, and karate. Just the way we like it.

The final five episodes of Cobra Kai are coming on February 13. We’ll have much more in the coming days.
